St Teresa of Avila Church

located in Bodega, about 9 miles from Occidental

St Teresa of Avila is the most famous church in Sonoma County. It is also the oldest church in Sonoma County in continuous use. It was dedicated on June 2, 1861 and still holds services every week. It was featured in Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 film, The Birds and is the subject of a famous black and white photograph created in 1953 by the famous naturalist photographer, Ansel Adams.
